Legal definition

The Act lists “recruiting” as one of the acts involved in trafficking where it is done for the purpose of exploitation.


What it looks like in real life
  • Someone promising a job, modelling work, gifts, or a “better life.” 

  • A person being targeted because they’re young, isolated, financially struggling, or seeking security. 

  • A relationship beginning normally but shifting into control. 

  • Someone being approached online by an adult pretending to be a friend, partner, or mentor.
